InOctober2016,ChiengappearedonTheDailyShowtogivehisresponsetoaJesseWattersFoxNewssegmentdeemedbymanyasracist.Chiengairedanexpletive-ladencriticismoftheconservativenetwork'ssegment.HealsorevisitedNewYorkCity'sChinatown,whereWattershadmockedresidents,andconductedmorerespectfulinterviewsinMandarinandCantonese.[6]ThevideowentviralandreceivedcoverageintheWashingtonPost,[7]Slate,[8]andothermajormedia.

Projects[edit]

In2016,Chiengco-wroteandstarredinthepilotofasitcomcalledRonnyChieng:InternationalStudent,basedonhisownexperienceasaMalaysianstudentinAustralia.ItwasdevelopedintoaseriesforComedyCentralinAmericaandABCTVinAustraliaandscreenedinJune2017.[2][3]

In2018,hemadehisAmericanfeaturedebutwiththeWarnerBros.filmCrazyRichAsians,directedbyJonM.ChuandstarringConstanceWuandHenryGolding.[9]
